If a previously well-functioning dishwasher suddenly leaves dirt residues on glasses and plates, this can have various causes.

 

The most common cause is that salt is needed. Fill the salt compartment of the dishwasher with dishwasher salt and turn it on.

 

Another cause is that the rinse aid needs to be refilled. The rinse aid compartment is usually located next to the dishwasher detergent compartment.

 

If it is neither salt nor rinse aid, check the filter and water spray openings. Remove the filter and clean it thoroughly, making sure that no objects or debris are stuck behind it.

The small openings of the water spray arm, which distributes the water over the dishes by rotating movements, can very easily become clogged with coarse food debris. Remove the water spray arm and clean it. It is often possible to take it apart to remove all food residues.
