Taking care of the environment starts at home. Everyone can contribute to environmental protection; every step helps. If you follow just a few guidelines and adapt your habits, a lot is already done.
These are the most important things you can do to help protect the environment:
- Make sure that your house or flat is well insulated so that no energy is wasted. What you pay for good insulation is quickly recouped through energy savings.
- Make sure your kitchen appliances have good energy ratings. Good household appliances have a detailed rating, the most energy-efficient rating is AAA.
- Use only energy-saving light bulbs, don't use disposable tableware and take your rubbish to be recycled.
- Slaughter animals produce a lot of greenhouse gases, so reduce your meat consumption a little. Even one less piece of meat per week is a good start.
- Whenever possible, leave your car and walk or cycle. For longer distances, ask about carpooling.
