Tidy up the garage in eight steps

Clear out garage

It is all too easy for the garage to become a dumping ground for all the things you don't know where to put. So you should take the time to organise the space in the garage well so that you can easily find everything again later.

Not only is it annoying to climb over piles of rubbish on the way to the car, the accumulated clutter also poses dangers. The time to clean out the garage is now, so try the following steps:

1. attach bicycles to the wall in an elevated position so that they are out of the driving or walking zone. The bicycles can be fixed with simple hooks or special bicycle holders.

2. store sports accessories such as inline skates, skis, footballs and bicycle accessories on designated shelves.

3. for convenience, keep protective clothing for bicycles or roller skates next to the respective vehicles.

4. get a closed locker with wheels for the camping equipment so that it can be loaded into the car more easily.

Install a folding table on one wall. If you don't need it, it's out of the way, but if you need a work surface, you can quickly unfold the table.

Stackable boxes or drawers for storing tools or children's toys should have a place in the garage. It is best to get transparent boxes so that you can see what is inside.

7. inexpensive rain gutters fixed to the wall are an excellent place to store long and thin objects such as wooden slats, pipes, etc.

8. a wooden bench as a seat is just as suitable for putting on sportswear as it is for drying equipment or boots that have got wet.
