Alternative uses for toothpaste

Toothpaste

Conventional toothpaste cleans teeth and gums, but has other useful household uses due to its antiseptic and cleansing properties and consistency.

1. itchy or painful skin irritations can be soothed immediately by applying a drop of toothpaste. If the toothpaste is left on overnight, the skin irritation heals more quickly.

2. fingernails are cleaned better and more thoroughly by scrubbing with toothpaste.

3. tooth gel can be used as a substitute for hair gel, but has the disadvantage that tooth gel usually has a minty odour.

4 Toothpaste has proven to be effective for scratches on DVDs and CDs. Rub the toothpaste onto the scratched surface with a soft microfibre cloth and remove the excess. Be careful, of course, that rubbing does not cause more scratches.

5. baby bottles have an odour of sour milk after constant use. Toothpaste permanently removes the odour from the bottles. After washing out with toothpaste, rinse the baby bottle thoroughly with hot water.

6. stubborn stains on carpets or clothing can be removed by rubbing them with toothpaste and then washing them off well.
