Sunbathing

A beautiful tan is very attractive, especially if it is natural and has been achieved through sunbathing. Almost everyone wants to spend as much time outdoors as possible in summer. We spend a lot of time outside to get a tan, but we also have to take care of our health.

For tanning, outdoor activities should ideally take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., as this is when the sun's rays are strongest. However, you can also get sunburnt very quickly during this time. Depending on your skin type, your skin can burn in less than 30 minutes without sun protection. Before spending long periods in the summer sun, you should know your skin type so that you can apply sun cream with the right sun protection factor. Areas of the body that burn particularly easily should be covered with clothing.

Sun exposure is less intense in the early hours of the morning or after 3 pm. This makes sunbathing healthier for the skin, but it takes a little longer to achieve a deep tan. The morning hours are more suitable for outdoor sports activities. The air is more refreshing and ozone levels are lower.

If you go sunbathing during the hottest hours of the day, you should keep cool. Drink lots of cold drinks, cool down occasionally in the shower or swimming pool, spray yourself with water or fan yourself with air. Moist skin also tans faster than dry skin.

To ensure that you do not get sunburnt, you should not be in the sun for too long at a time. Do not stay in the sun for longer than an hour without going into the shade for at least 15 minutes in between.

Examine the skin regularly. Strong and frequent sun exposure causes the skin to age more quickly if it is not cared for properly and can also cause skin cancer. You should keep an eye on dark pigmentation spots to see if they are getting bigger or changing and have them checked by a dermatologist if necessary. The eyes should also not be forgotten when protecting them from the sun. Not only can the sun's rays be bad for sensitive eyes, they can also cause ugly squint lines.
