Codonopsis (Codonopsis Pilosula), also known as tiger bells, is a bellflower plant with medicinal benefits.
The plant is perennial and hardy and is usually sown in spring, but can be sown all year round.
Codonopsis is a Chinese herb whose medicinal benefits are similar to ginseng. The sweet-tasting root promotes the production of red blood cells and haemoglobin. Codonopsis is used as a solution for anaemia, fatigue, shallow breathing, loss of appetite, diabetes and indigestion.
The flower is bell-shaped with green flowers interspersed with purple stripes.
