UNO is a simple card game for players of all ages. Up to 10 players can take part. There are numerous different variations of the UNO game. One variation is this one:
Aim of the game
The first player to run out of cards wins.
Course of the game
A UNO card game contains 108 playing cards, consisting of four colours, some wild cards (playing cards that can be used at will), cards with +2 or +4, a round of sit out and a change of direction.
Everyone draws a card of their choice; the player with the highest score deals out the cards.
Each player receives seven cards. The remaining cards are placed in the middle, colour down.
The top card is turned over and placed next to the pile of cards.
The player to the left of the dealer begins; play is clockwise.
The player whose turn it is places a card on top of the face-up card. The card must be either the same colour or the same number. Alternatively, a wild card can be played. In this case, the player who places the wild card on the pile must determine the next colour.
A +2 card may only be played if the colour matches. +4 cards may only be placed on top of +2 cards.
If you do not have a matching card, you draw a new card and add it to your hand. The card may be played immediately if it matches, otherwise it is the next player's turn.
A new colour must also be selected when playing a +4 card.
If someone plays a +2 card, either another +2 card of any colour or a +4 card must be played. Anyone who is unable to play must take the sum of all +2 and +4 cards played as new cards. For example, if four players have played a +2 card and a fifth has played a +4 card, the next player must pick up 10 cards.
If you had to pick up several cards, you may play a card of the matching colour. If they have two identical playing cards, they may play them together.
A card that has been played once may be played at any time according to its colour. The next player to the left must sit out a round. You can also play two cards of the same colour, in which case the next two players must sit out.
A change of direction card may also be played at any time according to its colour. If a change of direction card is played, it is now played anti-clockwise. If two cards of the same colour are played at the same time, they cancel each other out and the direction remains the same.
If you only have one card left, you must say UNO so that all other players know that you may win in the next round. If they forget to say UNO, they must draw another card in the next round.
Tip: At the end of a game round, you can add up the points of all players and write them down. The winner of the respective game round receives this score. Whoever has 500 points after several rounds has won.
Scoring: Each playing card has the value of its number. A one-time suspension, change of direction and +2 cards are worth 20 points. +4 and wild cards have 50 points.
