The first discovery of a new leisure activity initially arouses enthusiasm and excitement in children. But after a while, this enthusiasm gradually ebbs away as the new hobby becomes commonplace. This is perfectly normal.

 

How can parents keep their children interested in this activity? Because often a hobby hides an educational measure for the child's future.

First of all, one should try to explain to the child the importance of this leisure activity for education. It is important that the child understands this, because the child must show interest and do the hobby voluntarily in order to achieve an educational goal. As parents, choose real-life idols to show the child that if he wants to be just like his role model, he has to learn something. For example, say, "Michael Schumacher would never have become so successful if he didn't know enough English."

 

Set goals for the child. Hard work and achieved goals should be rewarded, that motivates more than any words. If the child sees a reward for his/her efforts as natural, he/she will be more motivated later in his/her educational journey to stick to achieving goals.

 

Reward the child. If the child has reached a set goal, which should never be set too high, he or she should be praised. Positive feedback increases self-confidence. Be careful with criticism. Criticism can destroy a child's self-confidence.
