In medical terms, this is called appendicitis.

Signs of appendicitis

The symptoms of appendicitis can vary and are not always clear-cut. General complaints are

Pain in the upper abdomen and around the navel. The pain gradually spreads.

After a while, the pain moves to the right lower abdomen.

Nausea and vomiting.

Loss of appetite.

Increased body temperature.

Not all people get a fever because their immune system may no longer work properly, for example in older people.

In pregnant women, the appendix may be slightly displaced upwards, causing the pain to shift.
