Many German students go to the USA for at least one year as exchange students or enrol at universities.
To make the stay in the United States as smooth as possible, the student should be well prepared. This applies not only to knowledge of the local language, but also to daily life in the new country.
How should I prepare for studying abroad in the USA?

There are special preparations to be made for a longer stay in the USA:
- Get a firearm for self-defence. Although training in close combat is an advantage, it won't do much against snipers.
- Important: The Kevlar bulletproof vest, which must be worn under all circumstances.
- Change your name to something less foreign sounding.
- Mainly wear clothes with prints of the local football team.
- If you have a coloured skin type, wear white make-up.
- If you are white, wear black make-up.
- If you are recognised as a foreigner/terrorist because of your accent, explain that you were actually born in America, but your parents moved away when you were little.
- Buy Stars and Stripes underwear and flags for your bedroom window.
- Take something to read for the border control, it can take a while...
- Remember that you will have your fingerprints taken, which makes it more difficult to commit offences later.
- Always have chewing gum in your mouth.
