Dry, brittle and cracked joints are painful and often embarrassing. If the brittle skin is not treated, it tears and causes inflammation. Heels and toes are particularly often affected.
In summer, the skin on the feet often becomes dry from wearing sandals. The best way to prevent the skin from drying out and maturing is through daily foot care. If the skin is already cracked, the treatment must be repeated more frequently until the feet become supple again.
After a shower or foot bath, when the skin is soft, it absorbs moisture particularly well. You can gently rub it with a pumice stone to remove as much dry skin as possible.
Then apply a skin care lotion with glycolic acid or lactic acid. The acids help to remove dead, dry skin cells and moisturise the skin.
If the skin is chapped, apply an antiseptic lotion to prevent inflammation.
In the evening before going to bed, rub Vaseline into the feet and wear socks to keep the moisture in the skin.
