The skin around the eyes is very sensitive and needs special care if you want to have beautiful eyes. Daily care of the eyes should become part of the washing ritual.
Eye cream
The skin around the eyes is thinner, more sensitive and has fewer sebaceous glands. therefore, a special eye cream is needed to prevent or reduce wrinkles. A good eye cream contains vitamin C to stimulate elastin and collagen in the connective tissue of the skin. This tightens the skin and makes it more elastic. For women under 25, an eye cream with little vitamin C and caffeine is sufficient, because at this age the skin is even less dry. From the age of 25, creams with vitamin A are needed for proper eye care.
Normal face creams are not suitable for the eyes because they contain spreading agents that can get into the eye and irritate the conjunctiva.
Correct application
Apply the eye cream to the lower eyelid and the side of the eye. Do not apply the cream to the upper eyelid, as it can get into the eye too easily. The thin skin around the eyes is sensitive to rubbing, so the cream should be patted in gently with the fingertips. This has the further advantage of stimulating the blood circulation and increasing the lymphatic drainage.
Compresses against bags under the eyes
Black tea or green tea contain anti-inflammatory agents. Boil the tea, let it steep and cool. Then soak cotton wool with the tea and place it on the closed eyelids for twenty minutes.
Cooling eye gels with caffeine or pomegranate are also useful. For better cooling of the eyes, keep the eye gel in the refrigerator.
Avoid irritation
Irritation of the eyes or the skin around the eyes can be caused by hypersensitivity to certain cosmetics or by rubbing too much when removing make-up. Avoid cosmetics completely until the irritation has healed. To remove make-up, use a greasy make-up remover so that the make-up can be easily removed from the skin with a soft cotton pad. Sensitive eyes often tolerate mascara with artificial tears better.
Covering the shading of the eyes
Since the skin around the eyes is much thinner, the blood vessels shine through and appear as dark eye shadows. A beige concealer covers the dark circles under the eyes. The concealer should be one shade lighter than the face makeup.
Any redness can be concealed with a corrective pencil.
