A positive event should of course be rewarded, and the best way to reward a horse is with treats. It is very common to give horses sugar cubes, which in themselves are not harmful to the horse and also taste very good to them.

 

In fact, pieces of sugar can lead to naughtiness. The horse spreads the sweet saliva on the stall walls or on the fence of its pasture and then licks the spots for hours. This can lead to bucking, biting, wood nibbling and refusal of unsweetened feed.

 

 

It is better to give the horse a piece of stale bread, a carrot or an apple as a reward.
