Trans fatty acids in breast milk can make babies fat
Breastfeeding is supposed to be healthy for the baby. But what happens if the mother's diet is unhealthy? An American study has investigated the connection between trans fatty acids in breast milk and obesity in babies and found some astonishing results: The more trans fatty acids the mother consumed while breastfeeding, the higher the risk of the baby gaining excessive fat deposits.

Trans fatty acids have a major influence on weight and fat development in infants. At least that is what researchers from the University of Georgia claim in their latest study, which was published in the latest online edition of the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
